Introducing the “Aurelian Night” Commission
Jun 2, 2026

A continuation of an evolving story, the latest P72 to leave the De Tomaso atelier explores how a commission can be shaped around a single moment in time, preserved through colour, material, and finish.

Developed in close collaboration with the De Tomaso Colour and Materials design team, the “Aurelian Night” Commission draws its inspiration from the atmosphere of a summer evening as it gives way to dusk: a brief, ever-changing moment when daylight begins to fade and the sky deepens in tone. It became the foundation for a commission centred on an appreciation of the moment itself, a reminder that some of life’s most meaningful experiences are also its shortest.

Midnight blue hues define the commission’s character, echoing the deepening sky of that transition. Hand-polished rose gold details run throughout, introducing warmth and contrast against the darker palette. As light moves across the surfaces, the rose gold reveals different qualities from one hour to the next, subtly transforming the car’s appearance.

Within the cabin, Venetian Blue leather extends across the seats, dashboard, and surrounding surfaces. Rich in tone and texture, it draws a natural connection to the exterior while enveloping its occupants in a single, cohesive world. Rose gold stitching offers a refined counterpoint, linking interior and exterior through one consistent material language.

As with every P72 commission, “Aurelian Night” was realised through close dialogue between custodian and atelier. Each detail reflects an individual interpretation of the P72, brought to life through De Tomaso’s commitment to truly tailored design.

The “Aurelian Night” Commission will be presented at select events throughout the year, before beginning its journey home.
